Babies, Babies, and more Babies.....

I love making quilts for people but the best people are the ones that are having babies. The patterns and material that are out there for babies and children is awesome, it's so bright and so fun. I personally don't see the practicality in making a tiny blanket for a baby because they are only so small for a short period of time. It seems that kids are kids longer then they are babies so I like to make my quilts bigger for a kid so they are able to use it longer.
I know three couples that are having babies and I really want to dive into the bright fun fabric. I have a TV and VCR in my sewing room so I throw on chic flick have a glass of wine (or two) and start sewing.
I thought I would start with this pattern, the quilt could be either for a boy or a girl.
I prefer patterns that have allot of pictures because I am a visual learner and really I just follow the pictures and refer to the words if the pictures don't make sense.
So I had popped in the movie Bridesmaids (if you have not seen this movie and have a great sense of humour I recommend it to everyone) and got down to sewing.
Cutting is so tedious to me, I love sewing everything together and sandwiching and quilting it (now that I have my new machine),

Everything all set to go....

Before I knew it the top was sewn together I just had to add the borders, I find it difficult to fussy cut squares that have borders around them, some of the border is cut off and it looks ridiculous, here is what I ended up with and it seemed to work out (don't look to closely).

Now I started this project a week ago and on the floor it sits in the same place as above just waiting to be sandwiched.
If your like me, I go on these sewing binges (they really should have a quilters anonymous) where I will get many projects done and then it comes to a screeching halt.
I am doing this blog and looking at the quilt on the floor and am going to finish it right now.... to be continued.
